EN 50618 Electric Cables for Photovoltaic Systems

Introduction

Product Description
This European standard applies to low smoke halogen free, single core crosslinked insulated and sheathed soft power cables. It is especially suitable for the DC side of photovoltaic system, the nominal DC voltage between conductors and between conductors and between conductors and ground is 1.5kV. When used in AC systems, the cable is rated at 1.0/1.0kV.
Conductor: Copper, and single conductor wire shall be tinned according to IEC 60228. The wire shall be covered with a continuous tin coating.
Insulation: crosslinked compounds that meet the requirements specified in EN 50618
Jacket: A cross-linked compound that meets the requirements specified in EN 50618, shall be black and shall be coloured throughout the jacket
