the difference of Photovoltaic cable and common cable

Sep 10, 2024
Photovoltaic cable:
Conductor: Usually copper conductor or tinned copper conductor is used, these materials have good electrical conductivity and corrosion resistance.
Insulation: The use of irradiated cross-linked polyolefin (XLPO) insulation materials, this material has good resistance to high temperature, UV and chemical corrosion properties, suitable for use in photovoltaic systems.
Sheathing: Also using irradiated cross-linked polyolefin sheathing, this sheathing provides additional mechanical protection to ensure long-term stable operation of the cable in harsh environments.

Common cable:
Conductor: Copper conductors or tinned copper conductors are also used, and the electrical conductivity and corrosion resistance are similar to that of photovoltaic cables.
Insulation: Generally use polyvinyl chloride (PVC) or cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE) materials. PVC insulation materials have poor performance in high temperature resistance and ultraviolet resistance, while crosslinked polyethylene materials have better performance, but they are usually not as good as irradiated crosslinked polyolefin.
Sheath: The use of polyvinyl chloride (PVC) sheath, which has poor adaptability to the environment and poor protection performance, is usually suitable for laying in ordinary environments.

Application scenario:
Photovoltaic cable: Designed for use in solar photovoltaic systems, it needs to be able to withstand strong ultraviolet radiation, large temperature differences, and other harsh environmental conditions. They are particularly suitable for outdoor and other harsh environments.
Common cable: mainly used in indoor or mild environmental conditions, can not withstand long-term strong ultraviolet light, extreme temperature or other harsh conditions.
